I realize it has been a while since I have updated this site but a lot has happened.
I painted the engine block this bright red color.
I then installed the crankshaft after messing around for two weeks trying to get the right main bearings
I installed the pistons with a new set of rings after honing out the piston bores
I then decided to install the engine in the frame without the head so that it would be lighter to lift.
(I don’t have an engine hoist - it was not too bad) Anyway I installed the head after the engine was in the frame
and also put in the cam shaft, lifters, timing gear and timing cover.
Next I installed the valve cover. This is an after market item. The original Jeep 258 valve cover is made of plastic
and the engines are notorious for oil leaks. This new aluminum valve cover should hopefully solve the problem.
(And it looks better too) I then put on the vibration damper, water pump, and thermostat housing.
Also notice the new front bumper. (Better picture later)
So here is the front on look so far with a new big bumper with a 2" receiver hitch. (Cool)
After this I put in the distributor, alternator, and spark plus and wires. Look ready to run doesn't it?
